Prelim Project: Evaluating Production Work

My two final posters use similar media advertisement conventions but represented in two separate ways; as part of the brief displayed it is made clear that the two different posters are advertising the same brand. The main image I show in my first poster uses one model, where as, my second poster uses three models. I chose for each of my posters to have an element of simplicity behind them  so that the audiences attention is drawn to Fair-trade Fashion clothing rather than the models themselves. This I stated in my statement of intent.

In my first poster, I positioned my model in the centre of my setting against a white background, to once again draw the audiences attention to the brand of clothing. However, I used a different approach in my second advertisement, this included placing three of my models on an outside stairway. This helped make links between Fair-Trade fashion and the clothes themselves. I did this through by placing models in front of a brick wall, suggesting urban environments. This approached helped me line-up the placement of my logo when I came to the editing element of production also.

In both of my posters, I have chosen use simplistic background for each poster, I felt that this added a modern aspect to my advertisements; this is an important factor when it comes to Fair Trade Fashion because it is typically dated and currently not many people are aware of the Fair Trade industry. As well as this, the easiness of the background helps the audience to focus their attention on the models wearing the branded clothing.  In the foreground of my posters I had planned to position fair-trade props, for example a basket, next to my models, which would have further helped add to the Fair Trade theme. However, after completing my posters I decided I wouldn't include this element and I feel the brand name, clothes and placement of my models is clear enough for the audience that it is a Fair Trade brand.

To create my advertisements I had to uses a specific production process in order to achieve the aspired outcome. After taking my images, I then had to upload these to photoshop, where I then added to the images with elements such my brand name and logo. Beforehand I had minimal experience with photoshop and so to produce my intended outcome was proven difficult. Part of my production evolved adding in the text to my posters though placing this text within black rectangles. Here is used skills within photoshop which which I haven't previously used. As well as this, I also had to ensure that my text was off centre to my models but my intended audiences was still able to easily recognise my brand name and logo.

Finally, to conclude I am pleased with the finished outcome of my posters which I have produced. I feel that I kept to the original brief and meets my statement of intent, as well as addressing my target market. However, if I were to change or adapt my products I would change the amount of model used in my second poster. In my statement of intent, I originally planed to use one model, however, used three. I believe that this drew my target audiences focus away from the clothes themselves and drew more attention to the models, something I didn't want to happen as it could have potentially lost the underlying message.
